MODS Local Code Representative (LCR)

The Network of Organizations for Children of Serbia (MODS) is the Local Code Representative (LCR) for The Code and provides support to member companies in Serbia. The LCR is appointed based on its capacity to facilitate child protection in the travel and tourism industry, in one or more countries or regions. They assist in developing implementation plans, creating child protection policies, and training staff.

What is the Code?

The Code (short for The Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism) is an initiative of ECPAT International and Local Code Representatives (LCRs) aimed to provide awareness, tools, and support to the industry to keep children safe by protecting them from sexual exploitation in the context of travel and tourism.

The Code is represented around the globe by local organisations who provide support to the travel and tourism industry on the ground to implement the six criteria of The Code.

The Six Criteria of The Code
  • Establish a policy and procedures against sexual exploitation of children and regulation of the voluntourism.
  • Train employees in children’s rights, the prevention of sexual exploitation and how to report suspected cases.
  • Include a clause in contracts throughout the value chain stating a common repudiation and zero tolerance policy of sexual exploitation of children.
  • Provide information to travellers on children’s rights, the prevention of sexual exploitation of children and how to report suspected cases.
  • Support, collaborate and engage stakeholders in the prevention of sexual exploitation of children.
  • Report annually on the implementation of the six criteria of The Code.
