The child can come into contact with the law in different ways, for example in cases of domestic violence, protection of the child from abuse and neglect, deprivation of parental rights, determining custody of the child, maintenance, divorce, adoption, guardianship, as well as in cases where the child commits a criminal offence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The reason for drafting the information booklet were the findings of the research\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cpd.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Istrazivanje-Pravosudje-po-meri-deteta-iz-ugla-dece-i-mladih.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/cpd.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Istrazivanje-Pravosudje-po-meri-deteta-iz-ugla-dece-i-mladih.pdf&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1622057600727000&amp;usg=AFQjCNG95zVl2FGLHlLknhKEVh5BdJ7nmQ\">\u201cChild-friendly Justice \u2013 The Perspectives of Children and Youth\u201d<\/a>, conducted by the Child Rights Centre in 2020, which reveal that children and youth in the general population are generally not informed about their rights in case they come into contact with the justice system. In fact, 44% of children and youth are not informed at all about their rights if they come into contact with the justice system or are partly informed (28%). Only 3% of respondents believe that children and youth are fully informed about their rights in case they come into contact with the justice system as a victim, witness or perpetrator of crime.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The children and youth from the Child Rights Centre\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cpd.org.rs\/dx\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/cpd.org.rs\/dx\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1622057600727000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHCw7bTfolt1GoQpFbVCx67TFgiOA\">DX Club<\/a>\u00a0and a number of pupils from the seven secondary schools in Ni\u0161, Novi Sad, Dimitrovgrad and Bajina Ba\u0161ta were consulted in the process of booklet preparation. Since May 2020, the DX Club members have been empowered through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Centarzapravadeteta\/posts\/701135123971154\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Centarzapravadeteta\/posts\/701135123971154&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1622057600727000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGmBF8-TVhUmhdzKT_UnGIzMXX3yg\">educational workshops on child-friendly justice<\/a>\u00a0to inform peers about their rights and advocate for the establishment of child-friendly justice. In order to point out the importance of informing children and youth about their rights in case they come into contact with the justice system, the Child Rights Centre published a video\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=a4pDhVptm1k\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v%3Da4pDhVptm1k&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1622057600727000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGe0E3LnimzG9w4abMPZIFaFNIxxg\">\u201cJustice from the Perspective of Children and Youth\u201c<\/a>\u00a0with the participation of DX Club members.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Child Rights Centre prepared the information booklet as part of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cpd.org.rs\/prava-deteta-u-srbiji-unapredjivanje-polozaja-dece-u-pravosudnom-sistemu-republike-srbije\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/cpd.org.rs\/prava-deteta-u-srbiji-unapredjivanje-polozaja-dece-u-pravosudnom-sistemu-republike-srbije\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1622057600727000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHb5LG8_YXsalFIxHTxmJr20JsoEA\">project<\/a>\u201cChildren\u2019s Rights in Serbia \u2013 Improving the Position of Children in the Judicial System of the Republic of Serbia \u2013 CRIS\u201d, implemented in cooperation with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and ASTRA \u2013 Anti-Trafficking Action, with the financial support of the European Union through the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/zadecu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/190705507_949610705790260_3504422334446936096_n-1.png\" width=\"768\" height=\"765\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The booklet is available at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cpd.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Booklet_Pravosudje-po-meri-deteta_ENG.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/cpd.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Booklet_Pravosudje-po-meri-deteta_ENG.pdf&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1622057600728000&amp;usg=AFQjCNF3tkmCEGKWiriyG1YmNsSdP_LuCQ\">link<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Child Rights Centre has published an information booklet entitled\u00a0\u201cChild-friendly Justice\u201d\u00a0to inform children and youth about their rights if they come into contact with the justice system as victims, witnesses or perpetrators of crime.
