{"id":10453,"date":"2022-09-23T22:32:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-23T22:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zadecu.org\/?p=10453"},"modified":"2022-09-25T22:34:26","modified_gmt":"2022-09-25T22:34:26","slug":"out-of-the-shadows-index-report-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zadecu.org\/en\/out-of-the-shadows-index-report-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"OUT OF THE SHADOWS INDEX REPORT LAUNCHED\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Tuesday 20 September 2022 at a high-level dialogue at the United Nations General Assembly 2022 Out of the Shadows Index (OOSI) was presented.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>The Out of the Shadows Index (OOSI) is the first global assessment of how countries are addressing CSEA. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2022 report benchmarks how 60 countries (home to approximately 85% of the global population of children) are preventing and responding to CSEA. Unlike any other research, the OOSI shines a spotlight on the CSEA \u201cgovernance architecture\u201d \u2013 the national systems in place to address the complex issue of CSEA in its two core dimensions: prevention and response.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>The 2022 report reveals that many governments are failing to create the policies needed to prevent and respond to CSEA.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Fewer than half of the countries indexed are considered to have a strategy to end CSEA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The top five countries with the best CSEA protections for children this year include: the United Kingdom (UK), France, Sweden, Canada and South Africa. The Republic of Serbia was ranked #26.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10448 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/zadecu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/OOSI_rankings-600x402.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"402\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zadecu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/OOSI_rankings-600x402.jpg 600w, https:\/\/zadecu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/OOSI_rankings-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/zadecu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/OOSI_rankings.jpg 650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Until recently there was little to no data on the prevalence of CSEA. Today, almost three-quarters of countries (73%) collect and publish data on the number of recorded and reported cases of CSEA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>CSEA is a global epidemic happening in every country around the world with widespread consequences not only for individuals but for societies at large. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These terrible consequences hinder progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly goals 3, 4, 5 and 16.
